We are proud to announce that W.O.M.A.N., Inc. has been chosen to receive the prestigious 2012 Ellen Magnin Newman Award at this year’s All San Francisco Concert. The Ellen Magnin Newman Award, which is named after the founder of the All San Francisco Concert, is being presented to W.O.M.A.N., Inc. because of its use of art as a healing tool for survivors of domestic violence. W.O.M.A.N., Inc. believes that through creative expression, survivors of domestic violence recover a sense of renewal and power.
Their images of hope, survival and strength help them make deeper connections which lead them to a place of healing. With guidance and support by “A Window Between Worlds” (a non-profit organization dedicated to using art to help end domestic violence), W.O.M.A.N., Inc. integrates expressive art into support groups for survivors and for children as well as in individual and family therapy.
