Community Education Series: Supporting Friends and Family of Survivors

“W.O.M.A.N., Inc. invites you to join us on Wednesday, November 20th for our second session in the three part Community Education Series: “Supporting Friends & Family of Survivors.”  The event will be hosted by our Outreach Coordinators, Annie Fisher and Jaymie Frazier.

At W.O.M.A.N., Inc., we frequently receive calls on our support line from the friends and family members of a survivor. They might understandably feel unsure of how to be helpful, and may feel scared for their loved one and overwhelmed by the situation.  This Community Education Series session will focus specifically on providing practical tools for audience members in providing support for their loved ones: Peer Counseling Builders & Blockers, Checking Assumptions, Red Flags, Providing Referrals, Safety Planning, Self-Care.

Overall, we hope to promote the importance of DV prevention and the positive ways one can respond to DV in the community.
