On Sunday, April 6th, over a dozen individuals will wake up at 5:00 am to head over to Great Highway and Fulton in the Sunset District to take part in the Transamerica® Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon San Francisco™. These individuals will be tired, excited, anxious, and nervous because at 6:30am, they will run 13.1 miles to spread awareness of the prevalence of domestic violence in our society and the immediate need to end it. These individuals consisting of W.O.M.A.N., Inc. volunteers, board members, staff, survivors, and friends of survivors have been working tirelessly for the past three months to train for this race and to fundraise to support domestic violence survivors who access the services provided by W.O.M.A.N., Inc. Each team member has committed to raise at least $300. Our agency is so proud of all of them and we cannot wait to cheer for them on race day. To learn more about each of the team members, please visit our W.O.M.A.N., Inc Facebook page as each team member has been highlighted via our social media news feeds.
We also want to acknowledge all of the businesses and individuals who have also been supporting our WI Team in different ways.
- Erin Durkee, Gemma Donofrio, Travis Marsh – These three have volunteered their time to be coaches for our WI Team before and during the day of the race! They have offered their time to organize group runs, yoga sessions, and on race day will be the biggest cheerleaders anyone has ever seen for our team!
- Anna McDonald and Antologia Vinoteca – Our MFT Therapy Intern will be hosting a fundraiser for our team members to support their efforts on March 28th! Antologia Vinoteca, a Latin American Wine bar, will also be hosting a fundraiser on March 29th in support of our team. 20% of proceeds from the night will go to our team!
