Last year, we were able to partner with community agencies to help provide support groups for survivors of domestic violence. We provided a series of support groups for SafeHouse, a San Francisco non-profit that provides a “nurturing and empowering living community for homeless woman escaping sexual exploitation, prostitution, and sex trafficking.” Group was attended by SafeHouse residents where they discussed boundaries, healthy relationships, goals, safety planning through art, journaling and discussion activities. We also partnered with A Woman’s Place, “a 24-hour supportive residential services in San Francisco offering emergency shelter and long-term treatment programs to female-identified individuals with special needs due to mental disabilities, sexual or domestic violence, drug and alcohol abuse, and HIV+/AIDS-related issues.” We provided a drop in support group during their drop in hours, where anyone who has been affected by domestic violence could have a safe place where they can discuss barriers, safety planning, healthy relationships, and learn more about how they can support themselves and others who are affected by domestic violence.
