Fundraiser Spotlight: Noa Gutterman & Uforia Studios

Please tell us a bit about yourselfnoa 2
My name is Noa Gutterman. I am 27 years old (just celebrated my birthday for this fundraiser!) and I work as a Senior Manager of Digital Strategy at an advertising agency called Metric Theory. I moved to the Bay Area from DC last year, but have previously lived in Ethiopia, Israel, Italy, Massachusetts, and Michigan. I currently live with my partner and our adorable furry feline friend, Irving, in Lower Pacific Heights. When I’m not at work, I love to cook and bake, travel as much as possible, and enjoy everything the West Coast has to offer. I’m equal parts podcast junkie and lover of reality TV.
How did you learn about W.O.M.A.N., Inc.?
I first learned about W.O.M.A.N., Inc. when I was researching Bay Area volunteer opportunities that supported women and other marginalized communities. I especially wanted to be involved with an organization that helps survivors of domestic abuse, an issue close to my heart. I believe so strongly that everyone deserves to feel safe in their bodies, their homes, and in their communities, and I want to be a part of creating that reality in San Francisco.

Please tell us about your fundraising efforts
I wanted to find a way to support W.O.M.A.N., Inc., both with financial contributions and with my time — and a spin fundraiser for my birthday was the perfect way to do that. I realized that if I could fill every bike at my Uforia Studios, i’d raise far more money than I’d ever be able to give myself. I’m so grateful that Uforia Studios partnered with me and were able to offer the class completely free of charge so that 100% of the money raised went directly to W.O.M.A.N., Inc.The fundraiser was a massive success and it was such a joy for me to be able to celebrate my birthday by giving back.

What inspired you to support our cause?
Survivors are some of the strongest people I know, and I want to do anything I can to support them. Domestic violence is so pervasive and often so invisible, and W.O.M.A.N., Inc. supports survivors at every single part of their journey. In the era of #MeToo, I feel an obligation to stand up for survivors and elevate their voices and experiences with my time, energy, and financial contributions. Using a survivor-centered approach to address domestic violence in our community makes W.O.M.A.N., Inc. so impactful and I want to do everything I can to support that mission.

What is the impact you hope to have on the community?
I hope that the money raised and from this fundraiser (and future fundraisers) will play a small part in bringing W.O.M.A.N., Inc.’s vision to life. I believe that W.O.M.A.N., Inc. is the best organization serving survivors of domestic violence, and I look forward to being involved in future volunteering opportunities.
