W.O.M.A.N., Inc.’s board of directors is looking for volunteers to assist in planning, implementing and securing community support for our upcoming annual event, tentatively scheduled for April or May, 2020. The event committee is a new volunteer opportunity. Members will work with the board of directors and staff to ensure a successful event: financially, strategically, and collaboratively.

Who Should Apply?:
This is the ideal opportunity for community members who are mission-aligned and have an interest in garnering board experience. Successful, collaborative and meaningful participation in committee may result in longer term board role. 
Based on participation and community interest, this committee may transform into an ongoing volunteer opportunity at W.O.M.A.N., Inc. 
Commitments and tasks

Dedication to mission:
W.O.M.A.N., Inc. is a 40+ year old organization which supports and centers survivors of domestic violence, especially survivors who are people of color and survivors who are a part of other marginalized groups. W.O.M.A.N., Inc. community members must endorse our cultural praxis and actively support our theory of change. All committee members must read these documents, and support the values and goals outlined in them before joining our community, including this committee.
Some specific values that apply to this opportunity are Mindful Affiliations, Teamwork and Consensus and Anti-oppression.

-Utilize professional, social and personal networks to garner support for the event. 
-Solicit sponsorships (approved by key staff and board) for the event. 
-Solicit silent auction prizes to bring in additional revenue for the organization.
-Assist WOMAN Inc in meeting its $20,000 fundraising goal for this event. 
-Utilize your social and professional networks to bolster attendance and impact

-Commit to attend, and from time-to-time organize, monthly and bi-monthly meetings as the event approaches. 
-Respond to emails and calls in a timely manner.
-Ensure donations are delivered to the event, and donors are thanked.
-Offer approximately 2 hours a week to this opportunity, perhaps more hours as the event approaches. 

-Attend event
-Assist in set-up (showing up early to help ready the venue)  and/or take-down (staying after the event ensure venue is clean). 
-Help with day-of tasks, as well as follow up tasks to ensure smooth event operations. 
-Work in collaboration with committee members and board to locate an appropriate venue for the event. 
-Solicit donations or reduced rates for food and refreshments, space and event entertainment
